Thinking Forward

The image above is an outdoor installation from the Dean Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, and sums up my thoughts about the coming year. No miracles anywhere, but inspiration everywhere. I continue to be encouraged by the passion and commitment many of my museum colleagues bring to the work of connecting museums and communities--and hope that those looking for the quick-fix miracle will instead understand that change is a process, rather than just a result.

What's up for The Uncataloged Museum in 2010?
  • More posts--in 2009 I wrote twice as many posts as I did in 2008--can I keep up the pace? I've been incredibly lucky this year to have visited museums all over and worked with colleagues from around the world. The best part of any new year is the sense of anticipation--what will the year bring?
  • Guest bloggers--I'd love to hear from anyone interested in being a guest blogger. If you have ideas for a guest post about some aspect of museum work--just let me know.
  • Back to Ukraine--In early March, I'll return to Ukraine for four months as a Fulbright Scholar to continue my work with museums there. So look for more thoughts about not only museums, but life in general in a changing nation (and of course, blog posts on The Pickle Project as well).
  • And a contest! Watch this space for a chance to win a free registration to the Museum Association of New York/Upstate History Alliance 2010 Museums in Conversation conference in Albany, NY.
